Privacy Policy

01Who We Are

This Privacy Policy applies to myheartliveshere.com (“My Heart Lives Here,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), an independent website that publishes product roundups and helpful guides about everyday life, including health, home, beauty, outdoors, and family topics. By using this website, you agree to the practices described here. If you have questions, email us at contact@myheartliveshere.com.

02Information We Collect

Information you give us

• Contact form: your name, email address, the topic you choose, an optional link to the post you are writing about, and your message.
• Email: anything you choose to include when you email us directly.

Information collected automatically

• Technical data: IP address, browser and device type, pages visited, time spent on pages, and the page that referred you. This comes from standard server logs and analytics tools.
• Spam protection: when you use our contact form, your IP address is used temporarily to limit abuse, such as repeated automated messages.
• Cookies: small files stored by your browser. See Section 7.

We do not ask for, and you should not send us, sensitive information such as payment card numbers, passwords, or government ID numbers.

03How We Use Your Information

• To reply to your messages, questions, guide requests, and correction reports
• To check that the email address you enter is real, so our reply can reach you
• To protect the website and contact form from spam, bots, and abuse
• To understand which guides are useful and improve the website
• To meet legal obligations and enforce our Terms & Conditions

04Legal Bases for Processing (GDPR)

If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we process your personal data on these legal bases:

• Consent: when you send us a message or accept optional cookies.
• Legitimate interests: to run, secure, and improve the website, and to prevent spam.
• Legal obligation: when we must keep or disclose information by law.

05Service Providers

We share information only with trusted providers that help us run the website, and only as much as they need to do their job:

• Web hosting provider: to host and deliver this website.
• Email delivery provider: to deliver contact form messages to our inbox.
• Email verification provider: to check whether a submitted email address is real and can receive mail.
• Analytics providers: to measure traffic in aggregate.
• Content delivery services: fonts and images on this site are loaded from third-party services (such as Google Fonts and Unsplash), which receive your IP address in order to deliver those files.
• Affiliate partners: see Section 6.

We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect our rights or the safety of others, or as part of a sale or transfer of the website.

06Affiliate Links

Some pages contain affiliate links. If you click one and make a purchase, the retailer may use cookies to record that the sale came from our website, and we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. The retailer handles your purchase and personal data under its own privacy policy.

07Cookies & Analytics

We may use cookies and similar technologies to keep the website working, to measure traffic anonymously (for example, with Google Analytics or a similar tool), and to track affiliate referrals. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time. The guides will still work without them, though affiliate referrals may not be recorded.

08Data Retention

We keep personal information only as long as we need it. Contact form messages and email conversations are generally deleted within 24 months, unless we need them longer to resolve an issue or meet a legal obligation. Spam-protection records tied to your IP address expire automatically within days.

09Data Security

We use reasonable safeguards to protect your information, including encrypted (HTTPS) connections, access controls, and reputable service providers. No method of internet transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your data and will act promptly if a problem arises.

10Your Rights (GDPR)

If you are in the EEA or UK, you have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Correct inaccurate or incomplete data
• Ask us to delete your data
• Restrict or object to certain processing
• Receive your data in a portable format
• Withdraw consent at any time
• Complain to your local data protection authority

11Your Rights (California)

If you are a California resident, you have the right to:

• Know what personal information we collect, use, and disclose
• Ask us to delete your personal information
• Correct inaccurate personal information
• Opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information (we do not sell or share it)
• Not be treated differently for using your privacy rights

To use any of these rights, email contact@myheartliveshere.com. We will verify your request and respond within the time required by law.

12International Transfers

Our service providers may process information in the United States and other countries. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards to protect data transferred across borders.

13Children’s Privacy

This website is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
